The Suicide Princess

The Suicide Princess

by Anthony Byran

4 out of 5 stars

When I was given this book to read, I wasn't really sure what to expect. The description on Amazon tells of an unhappy wife who strays and she then has to pay the consequences. Personally, I don't think that the description does justice to the story. It is so much more than just that.

Stephanie isn't necessarily happy with her marriage. And, like so many others, looks to someone new and in her opinion "exciting" to add to what she thinks she is missing. Little does she know that there is something more sinister going on. Her rational side gets the better of her and she decides to call things off.  The story starts to come together as Stephanie learns of a secret that her best friend, Kristen, has.

Without giving away the ending, I'll stop there. But I can tell you, it was not what I was expecting. Now let me say, I don't condone infidelity, recreational drug use, or abuse - all of which are used in the story line. That being said, overall the story line was great. The characters were believable and the plot, for the most part, made sense. Derrick seemed to be what every girl wants-the bad boy. But there was just something missing. And maybe it was just his dark side that I didn't like. (Leaving room for another story later on??) There are some rather steamy scenes, that are very well written.  Overall, I found this to be a good book with some good twists.  Again, the ending took a turn I really wasn't expecting - which in the world of writing is a good thing.  So many books are "cookie cutter books" where you have the first half of the book being the love story, half way through they get in a fight and then the rest of the book is about them making up.  This book is not that case.  Anthony Bryan takes on the world of erotic thrillers and knocks it on its side!  I'm interested to see what this author has to write in the future!

***Only 4 out of 5 stars because of typographical errors throughout the book.  Errors that could be corrected with simple editing.***
